It is not uncommon to not realise when we are heading for a wipe out.
This exhibition focuses on those moments of vulnerability when one realises they have nothing left due to emotional or physical exhaustion. The concept and methodology of ‘whiting out’ is laborious and is suggestive of mistakes [i.e whiting out a sentence]. The act of ‘whiting out’ reveals vulnerability and strength through the hints of colour refusing to be ‘wiped out.’
This exhibition speaks of the human condition and will power. The aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness for self-care and mindfulness. Taking care of oneself emotionally, physically and mentally is an conscious act we should all endeavour to partake in. My hope is that the exhibition will allow viewers to engage in mindfulness by engaging with my paintings.
