Olivia Jones is an early career artist working in Western Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Curtin University and has exhibited at The Other Art Fair (Melbourne, 2017). Her first major solo show was at KolbuszSpace in February 2022 with funding awarded through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for creative development. Recently, Olivia had her second solo exhibition New Bloom at KolbuszSpace in March 2024.
Her visceral and evocative oil paintings deal with lived experiences of mental health, softening and concealing hard rocks from her family bush block with layers of white paint over coloured foundations. Rather than insist on the futility of blocking out the rock and colour away completely, Jones allows and works within these realities to add acceptance and depth to her striking works.
Jones' next exhibition will be at Kolbusz Space, Perth, in March 2024.
